Event Details

Join us at Patagonia Baltimore for a screening and panel discussion about The Last Dive, a new documentary following the story of a giant manta ray named Willy off the coast of Mexico.

Terry is a legendary figure in Baja Mexico, an American veteran who has spent decades living on—and in—the water. Once a man burdened by a troubled past, Terry’s life was transformed by an unlikely friendship with Willy, a 22-foot oceanic manta ray. For nearly two decades, Willy would slap his wings against the hull of Terry’s sailboat to signal their next dive, and together they explored the ocean’s depths—an extraordinary bond that turned Terry into an unexpected conservationist.  Now in his 80’s, Terry embarks on one final journey to a remote island in hopes of reuniting with his old friend. But he’s also searching for something deeper: peace, closure, and a chance to say goodbye.

The Last Dive is a visually stunning and emotionally resonant documentary directed by award-winning filmmaker Cody Sheehy, and produced by the acclaimed Mark Monroe. This documentary invites viewers to reflect on our connection to the natural world, and the mysteriously wild creatures that help us find our place in it.

Runtime of this documentary is 90 minutes, with a panel discussion following the film.

Drinks, snacks, and chance-to-win items will be available at the door!

Camila Hernandez

Surfrider, Chairperson

Cultural Sustainability Speaker

Camila Hernandez is a coastal advocate, storymaker, and Co-Founder of NestEarth, a community helping parents raise eco-conscious kids without feeling lost and overwhelmed.
She chairs the Surfrider Foundation Annapolis chapter, actively lobbies for plastic reduction legislation at the state and federal level, and has lived zero waste for 15 years. Her mission, in her own words, she’s ISO a less trashy life 🦀
Her approach to eco-conscious living rejects swap culture, the idea that sustainability is about buying “better” things, and replaces it with legacy habits, which is behavior change built through existing resources and genuine intention.
She writes The Sorting, a Substack newsletter at the intersection of agrifood, wellness, and cultural sustainability.

Fun fact: She is an improviser in training!

Jenn Riling

Jenn Riling has been a part of the National Aquarium’s Animal Rescue department since 2022. Jenn is no stranger to the National Aquarium; she started her career as a Youth Exhibit Guide at age 15 and has served other roles throughout her time here before joining the Animal Rescue team. In addition, she is in school to obtain a Veterinary Technician License. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Marine Science from the University of Delaware. Jenn has been an avid scuba diver for the last 10 years and has interned in research diving and aquarium diving.

Amy Adamo

Surfrider, Chairperson/At-Large Member

Amy has been passionate about the environment since she was small. Raised by a botanist and a farmer in Pennsylvania's Allegheny mountains, she was taught to appreciate the biodiversity of all natural environments, whether forest floor fauna, garden vegetables, bird song, or tide pools in the rare times she got to visit the beach. Listening to and communing with the planet's wonders brings her peace.

Full-time, Amy is the operations manager at Evolutions by Coppermine, a local Annapolis fitness club, where she also teaches group fitness classes, is a massage therapist and athletic trainer. After being challenged by a friend to not wait for her children to figure things out, she found herself wanting to have a louder voice advocating for the environment. She and her husband, already Surfrider members, decided to help start the Surfrider Chapter in Annapolis, MD where she currently serves as Chair.
